About

The Northern Spirit Chapter is proud to offer our “Spirit of Aviation” award. It is awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements and their dedication to the aviation community. Two winners will receive a Conference Package including registration, a one-year membership to Women in Aviation International, travel and accommodations to attend the International Women in Aviation Conference. Our objective is to inspire and foster the winner’s career through their experiences at the WAI Conference. Preference will be give to an individual who would otherwise not be able to attend without financial assistance.

Connect

Our scholarship winners will have the opportunity to connect with other women in the aviation industry and make new invaluable networking connections.

Engage

Attending a WAI conference allows you to be completely engaged in aviation.  It allows you to re-connect with your passion and your career goals.

Inspire

Whether you are inspired by the women you meet or the speakers you listen to, or the stories you hear, you will undoubtedly come home inspired after attending a conference.

How will attending the WAI Conference inspire and motivate you to reach your dreams?

Fill out our online application and tell us about yourself. What are your career goals? How did you get to where you are today? What inspires and motivates you? Be creative but don't over-think it. Be authentic, be yourself and tell your story! We want to send two phenomenal women to the conference (YES, THIS COULD BE YOU!) to launch your career, support your dreams, and provide the most amazing experience connecting with other women in aviation!

This scholarship is open to all women involved in any aviation and aerospace related field. Applicants must have a valid passport, eligible to travel to the United States, and be available to travel for the conference dates.

Not sure where to start? Here are some points to inspire your creativity:
  • what are your aviation history and goals and what you have done to work towards your goals
  • how will attending the conference help you achieve your career objective
  • previous educational scholarships, awards and honours
  • where you see yourself in 5 and 10 years
  • your current involvement in aviation activities in your community or other non-aviation organizations

APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 ARE CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR OUR 2026 SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT.

Q&A

Q: What’s included in the Conference Package?
A: Winners will receive a Full Conference Registration, which includes access to all scheduled events during the Women in Aviation International (WAI) Annual Conference. The package also covers round-trip airfare from your nearest airport, airport transfers to and from the hotel, and three nights’ accommodation at a registered conference hotel.
Please note: winners are responsible for meals and beverages not included in conference registration, personal expenses, and travel to and from their home to their nearest airport.

Q: There are additional tours, seminars, and workshops available. Can I sign up for those?
A: Yes! You are welcome to register for any additional events offered at the conference. However, you will be responsible for any costs associated with activities outside of the Full Registration package.

Q: Can I arrive early or stay longer than the official conference dates?
A: If flights are available on your preferred dates, we’re happy to help book your travel. However, accommodations are only covered for the official conference dates. If you choose to arrive early or stay later, any additional costs will be your responsibility.
