The Northern Spirit Chapter is proud to offer our “Spirit of Aviation” award. It is awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements and their dedication to the aviation community. Two winners will receive a Conference Package including registration, a one-year membership to Women in Aviation International, travel and accommodations to attend the International Women in Aviation Conference. Our objective is to inspire and foster the winner’s career through their experiences at the WAI Conference. Preference will be give to an individual who would otherwise not be able to attend without financial assistance.

How will attending the WAI Conference inspire and motivate you to reach your dreams?
Fill out our online application and tell us about yourself. What are your career goals? How did you get to where you are today? What inspires and motivates you? Be creative but don't over-think it. Be authentic, be yourself and tell your story! We want to send two phenomenal women to the conference (YES, THIS COULD BE YOU!) to launch your career, support your dreams, and provide the most amazing experience connecting with other women in aviation!
This scholarship is open to all women involved in any aviation and aerospace related field. Applicants must have a valid passport, eligible to travel to the United States, and be available to travel for the conference dates.

- how will attending the conference help you achieve your career objective

Q&A
Q: What’s included in the Conference Package?
A: Winners will receive a Full Conference Registration, which includes access to all scheduled events during the Women in Aviation International (WAI) Annual Conference. The package also covers round-trip airfare from your nearest airport, airport transfers to and from the hotel, and three nights’ accommodation at a registered conference hotel.
Please note: winners are responsible for meals and beverages not included in conference registration, personal expenses, and travel to and from their home to their nearest airport.
Q: There are additional tours, seminars, and workshops available. Can I sign up for those?
A: Yes! You are welcome to register for any additional events offered at the conference. However, you will be responsible for any costs associated with activities outside of the Full Registration package.
Q: Can I arrive early or stay longer than the official conference dates?
A: If flights are available on your preferred dates, we’re happy to help book your travel. However, accommodations are only covered for the official conference dates. If you choose to arrive early or stay later, any additional costs will be your responsibility.
Q: I'm not currently a Women in Aviation International (WAI) member. Can I still apply?
A: Yes, absolutely! Scholarship recipients who are not already WAI members will receive a one-year complimentary membership or renewal as part of their award.
Q: I don’t have a valid passport. Can I still apply?
A: Unfortunately, no. A valid passport is required to make airline reservations for travel to the United States. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the travel dates.
Q: I’m under 18. Can I still apply?
A: Unfortunately, no. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of travel. The hotel requires guests to be a minimum of 18 years of age, and scholarship winners must be able to travel independently.
Q: I’m not currently working in aviation. Am I still eligible?
A: Yes! We welcome applications from all aviation enthusiasts, including students enrolled in flight training or aviation/aerospace programs, as well as those considering a career in the field. You don’t need to be employed in aviation to apply.
