Anyone who has a passion and an interest in aviation can join!  We have members who are students, air traffic controllers, Transport Canada inspectors, pilots, aerospace engineers, pilots, aviation enthusiasts and more - join today!

Local Chapter Events Every Month

Join us each month as we explore careers and the world of aviation.  Come on a tour, listen to a guest speaker, participate in an educational seminar or come out for a fun evening and meet new friends. There's something new to do each month!

Scholarships

As a member of our chapter you can apply for our Spirit of Aviation Scholarship.  This year we awarded TWO scholarships which include airfare, accommodations and conference registration to the 27th annual WAI Conference in Nashville!

Networking and Mentorship

Joining our chapter offers much more than just local events and scholarship opportunities. Being a part of our chapter you will meet new people and forge new friendships.  You may find a mentor or become a mentor for others.  Aviation is a small world and networking can play an important part of your career progression.

Community Involvement

Our chapter is committed to hosting community outreach events.  Whether it's being a guest speaker at the Brownies, giving an aviation career presentation to a group of students or hosting our annual Girls in Aviation Day, we love to share our passion for aviation.

Calling Nominations for Executive Positions

​​Would you like to join our Chapter Executive team?  Being a part of the Northern Spirit executive is a dynamic and fun opportunity to contribute to our chapter and to the community. Executives help organize chapter meetings, particate in community outeach events and gain valuable volunteer experience. There are 4 Director positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary) and 3 Chair positions (Membership, Outreach, Fundraising). If you would like to be nominated or would like to nominate someone please send us an email to ywgspirit@gmail.com. Our Annual General Meeting will be scheduled this spring at which time we will have our election.

WAI Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to everyone who applied for 2017 WAI Scholarships. We know it takes a lot of time and diligence to get the application packages sent out on time but it's worth the effort and experience. You never know, you could be a winner! 

There were two deserving Canadian who won! Congratulations to Denise Huntizinger of Mississauga ON who won the Women in Corportate Aviation Scholarship and to Annie Hui Wen of Dorval QC who wond the Hoss Beckman Memorial Scholarship.

June Chapter Event


NAV CANADA has eight Flight Information Centres (FIC) across the country: Halifax, Quebec City, London, North Bay, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Kamloops and right here in Winnipeg. Flight Service Specialists working at our FICs are trained to interpret meteorological information and use this information to provide in-depth interpretive weather briefings and en route advisories to pilots operating anywhere in Canadian airspace. They are also responsible for providing timely reports on missing or overdue flights. Join us and tour the Winnipeg FIC and see all of the services they have to offer you right here in our own city!
